External auditory canal osteoma: a case report

چکیده

<p>External auditory canal (EAC) osteomas are rare, solitary benign unilateral lesion. Small lesions incidentally diagnosed and larger produce symptoms of pain, ear discharge defective hearing. Diagnosis is made based on a combination clinical history examination, radiographic imaging, histopathology. They usually confused with exostosis which multiple, bilateral, smooth-bordered, broad-based without deep extension. We present case 21-year-old male patient who came to our outpatient department, complaints left blocking sensation for past 6 months. On evaluation, it was as EAC osteoma the same excised via post-auricular approach. This being presented its rarity</p>

Osteomas of the petrous temporal bone are rare and seldom symptomatic. This report describes an osteoma of the internal auditory canal, causing compression of the eighth nerve, leading to auditory and vestibular complaints.
